Oakheart moved quickly and quietly to the training clearing. He had told his apprentice Shadowpaw that they would be working on different fighting techniques today and that they would be leaving fairly early. He expected his apprentice to track him out here rather than show him where it was. If the younger cat got lost then it would tell his mentor that he needed to work on tracking as well, even though tracking a cat of the same clan should be basic as eating fresh kill. He let up into a tree, not making it exactly obvious where he was at to his student.

Smokepaw sniffed the air and surrounding foliage just yards away from Oakheart who was perched in the branches of a pine tree. His ears swerved as he listened for sounds signaling he might be close or that there was danger nearby. Pieces of moss and flower pedals clung to his smokey gray pelt as he padded forwards. Deep amber eyes looked around as he looked around in the clearing. His mentors scent was strong but yet there was sign of the warrior. Slowly he scanned through the shrubbery and then around the base of trees. After seconds of thought he started to look up each tree. Still no sight of him and the young tom let out a disgruntled sigh before sitting down. His tail laid lightly over his paws as he waited.

Oakheart heard the apprentice before he actually saw him. The young cat had done quite a good job at finding him. Better than he thought would happen. The tom crouched down and gave his tail a twitch before longing at his young apprentice from the tree, a loud yell resounding in the tree ruining any chance of hunting in the area for now. But it was still worth it to see how his apprentice would handle it.

Smokepaw quickly jumped to his paws as he heard a yell sound from the pine trees. His claws unsheathed as he spun towards the sound and he quickly had moved from where he once sat. Eyes narrowed when he realized Oakheart was trying to catch him off guard and he was stupid enough to fall for it. Annoyed the young smokey gray tom ran towards his mentor with a lowered head. Maybe if he was lucky he could ram his head into the warriors chest and knock the wind out of him.

there's more than meets the eye Oakheart ` Warrior` Shadowclan Oakheart watched as his apprentice reacted rather well for a cat.who.had just been charged at by a much larger cat. His claws out he actually moved rather quickly. Oakheart felt a small surge of pride in his young apprentice. As the smaller cat in turn rushed him he stepped aside and swept his paw out, trying to trip his apprentice. "Keep moving Smokepaw, you wouldn't give up if I was a Thunderclab cat would you?"

Smokepaw attempted to jump over Oakheart's leg but didn't clear it as cleanly as he had planned. The smokey pelted tom stumbled to the ground and quickly turned his head. He was back to his paws as quick as possible and turning towards his mentor. This time he would take a defensive position because it might just be best for him. Specially since his mentor has far more fighting experience then himself. His tail twitched as he narrowed his eyes waiting for something to happen.

there's more than meets the eye Oakheart ` Warrior` Shadowclan Oakheart's eyes lit up with a smile, his apprentice was doing well to adapt to the situation. It was very smart for him to take the defensive, obviously he would lose of he kept going head on as he had been trying. "You're doing great Smokepaw. You've improved a lot. Your legs are a little narrowly spaced don't you think?" the older tom rushed the young male quickly, focusing on his feet and legs. A wider stance meant more balance. It was something they all had to learn.

Stormpaw was knocked to the ground because of his lack of balance. A sense of fear struck his heart as the wind was knocked out of him. He had spent to much time focusing on his mentor's compliment instead of fixing his mistake. His eyes flicked from side to side as his body seemed to have froze in a matter of second. It took seconds to long for him to scramble to his paws and certainly if this was a real battler he could be dead. In a last ditch effort the young tom tried to scramble out of arms lengths but the fear that burrowed in his mind caused him to stumble over his paws. Never before had he been so afraid of his mentor simply charging at him.
